Greetings to UNC Charlotte Alumni!
This is my first e-letter using our e-newsletter software, so welcome from your Alumni Career Advisor at the University Career Center.  If you haven't been getting my newsletters in the past, please set up a profile in NinerJobNet (http://career.uncc.edu).
I am finding that a lot of alumni aren't getting my e-mails who would like to, and a few who don't want them are getting my e-mails.  Thanks for your patience, as it's always a challenge to reach you all when your e-mails change.  Even if you are not job hunting, please pass this info on to fellow alumni and please know that we don't send spam. 
I am writing to give you a heads up about Tuesday's Job Fair at the Cone Center Lucas Room, and to tell your colleagues that it is open to the community.  If you are interested in law enforcement, teaching, social work, defense and intelligence work, or looking for graduate or professional schools, please plan to attend.
NSA is hiring and has several info sessions planned on Oct. 3: http://career.uncc.edu/events_description.cfm?event_id=1921.  This is a good way to learn about the agency.  Also, Marcia Clay, our Liberal Arts Career Advisor, and Ben Cudia from NSA (former Engineering Career Advisor), will be leading a workshop at 11:00 before the Fair (Oct. 4) on the Federal hiring process. 
If you have graduated within the past 12 months, you may interview through our On-Campus Interviewing Program.  Please log into your NinerJobNet account and search for interviewing companies.  Bank of America and Grant Thornton were very active in our office this week.  Act quickly before deadlines close!
And finally, please take advantage of networking events such as the Chamber of Commerce's Meet and Greets (next one is at the COSTCO Tyvola, Oct. 5, 7:30-9 a.m.), and work on your LinkedIn profile.  Many alumni I am seeing are just beginning to explore this, and much networking and job searching can happen here.  It's time to stop searching only on Monster and CareerBuilder and try the way of social networking.  Go to http://learn.linkedin.com to see how to set up your profile.
