Re: [PanicZone] Talking to yourself

hi,
i do this a lot-sometimes it is when i get angry about something-i am so afraid of conflict that i cannot respond to the person in the moment. afterwards, i often become obsessed with what was said and how i wish i had answered.  i often end up whispering to myself over and over again, or just moving my lips without making any sounds.  what's even more frustrating is that sometimes i get a phrase stuck in my head, i don't even know why, but then my brain just repeats it endlessly. finally i have to work really hard to stop. i do try really hard not to say things out loud-i know i do it sometimes though. my son occassionally asks me who i am talking to. i tell him i am just thinking out loud.-Ericka

I find that when I'm upset with somebody I talk it out with myself.
For instance if I'm upset with my sister, her hateful words comes to
my mind and I'll say something like, "You treat mom bad, you don't
even call her." Or "there was a storm and you didn't even call her to
see if she was alive or dead." And I'll confront her to myself as if
she's there with me and I find that this helps me. How many of you
talk things out with yourselves as if the person is there?
