I've had tingling in the past. Especially while hyperventalating (and not even knowing I was doing so). Breathe in deep counting for 4 seconds, pause and then breathe out counting 4 seconds (very slowly both ways). This definitely helps. And love and prayers to you and your son!

Now for my dilemma - I (after 10-12 years) have finally gotten off of Effexor (was taking it for anxiety but recently found out it's more for depression - and has not been working on my anxiety this whole time, but whatever). ANYWAY. What a horrible ride that was getting off the Effexor. Now I'm going to take a little break w/ no meds but xanax (.25mgs prn as needed. My question is - what anxiety medicine (if any) do you all take and why do you like it/dislike it? My new doctor (mind/body doc whom I adore) mentioned buspar. I have tried the SSRI's and didn't like them (years ago, paxil, zoloft, etc).

Thanks for listening.

I've had tingling as well in different areas (hands, feet, etc). Its all part of the physical sensations of anxiety.

I tried the SSRI'S as well and did not like them. I also tried Buspar and Xanax and they didn't work for me. the only one that helps me is Klonopin. I'm not happy about being on it, but it does help

i learned long ago from a doctor that the tingling we feel is caused by our
bodies natural defense ... the doctor said that when we have an anxiety attack
about what ever our "trigger" our body goes into defense mode to protect itself
so it protects the center of our body first by redirecting blood flow to protect
the important stuff this makes us tingle from lack of blood flow ... it is
normal because our body reacts te same to our "triggers" as it would if someone
had a gun pointed to our head, our brain and body really cant tell the
difference all it knows is it needs to protect itself ... hope this helps also i
hate taking any form of medication due to control issues so i take L-theanine
(an herb) and it is wonderful!!!!! feels like takeing a xanax without any side
effects ... you should look it up
