Re: [PanicZone] Re: Those with diabetes

Thanks Mary
U really are very knowledgeable. This was unusual for me as most days I eat nothing all day, deal with this and then have a small dinner.

I can't have anything for the remainder of the week anyway due to surgery.

My anorexia is out of control and destroying me physically and emotionally.

There is no help for my disease and its not just a matter of eating. Its a psychological disease that can kill. Knowledge of the disease makes no difference. It is in total control of me.

Diabetes among other serious complications-heart attacks, 3 to date-stroke-cancer-kidney disease-bowells shutting down as mine have and more.

Its a monster. I'm not me. I'm a disease.

Drops in blood sugar do bring on shaking ,panic attacks, weirdness and other uncomfortable feelings. And just feeling uncomfortable for me, brings on more anxiety , I guess because I'm more sensitive to it.
But you eating something if you drink OJ, eat peanut butter and candy. So it's not like you only eat a little lettuce or something.
Foods high in the B vitamins are wonderful for repairs nerves that have been damaged .(Due to sugar, alcohol, etc)So keep eating peanut butter. Just buy the kind without the sugar, If you eat it on bread, read ingredients! But whole stone ground flour breads with no chemicals and refined sweetners. Try other nut butters out there. Almond butter is incredibly good for you. In fact, when my kids' were babies, I sometimes made them a homemade formula that had almonds as the main ingredient.
From you mentioning these three foods, if you just at a few meals a day of them, it would be a great beginning.
Add a little lettuce of some sort on your nut butter sandwich for a little roughage. Crackers are good as long as the ingredients are whole grain. Rye is especially good. Some dense rye Krispa or even rye triscuits.
Perhaps after a little while, feeling a little better, your appetite will increase.
And you can add other foods to your diet.

Kevin,
I hear you and so what you are saying is that the glucose is the determining
factor for diabetes, correct.

I understand diet and exercise as my husband is type 2 and does not exercise. He
is on meds.

Being anorexic makes eating very difficult.

Actually, I am wondering now if my midmorning shaking is bloodsugar plummating.
I have been known in the past two weeks to inhale a carton of Orange Juice,
spoon out the peanut butter and eating minature candy as my husband does or
peanut butter crackers when shaking. I always interrpret this shaking as panic
attacks but now im unsure. I still have panic attacks but i do notice certain
times of day that i feel worse and crave salt and sugar. being a person who
doesn't eat all day im sure contributes.

I don't know anymore.

I need more help with this.

I was sent to nutritionsist in past because pre is considered diabetes and like
Mary said eating could change it. Huge problem with being anorexic and
underweight.

The number of your glucose is a bit high. It should be as close to 100 as
possible. You might be pre-diabetic. It is good that you don't have full blown
diabetes!

As Mary said you gotta pay attention to your're diet and excersize!!!

Also you can add a little cinnamon to your food (1/4 to 1 tsp per day)

This does not mean a cinnamon donut!!

Just sprinkle a little on your ordinary food. You don't want to use too much b/c
over-use of cinnamon can have some side effects, but this is rare. Keep the
total daily intake to 1/4 to 1 tsp per day.

But more important is correct diet and correct excersize.

Lots and lots of books and internet resorces on diabetes. Just google and start
reading or ask for books at your local library.

Jackie, you got a window of opportunity to stop the diabetes. Do it now before
it gets worse!
