Sherrie and Harley went to the amusement park on Wednesday. Bill and I rode
around the area. We love it there so much. Can't remember if I told you,
but when we were living in NC, we hated it. We decided to head north. We
went to NY, but didn't care for it there. We were coming back and decided
to take a side trip in PA. We found this area near Bloomsburg that is just

so we ended up back here to be with her and help her with Harley. Anyway,
we rode around most of the day and went to the park in the evening. We had
fun. Thursday, they went to the water park for about three hours. We hung
out at the campground and relaxed. When they came back, we took them to see
the mountains and a little of 'our area'. Then we had a campfire that
night. We left Friday morning and took a side trip to a Cabelas. I just

Scott - Thank you. Yes, we are. When I started with PD back in the 70's,
no one had a clue what was wrong with me. They put me in the hospital and
run tests for a week. One doctor told me I had a blood clot or tumor in the
left side of my brain and there was nothing they could do for me. Dear Lord
that fed my PD big time. My daughter was only five. I was afraid to stay
alone with her, I was afraid to drive. Too long of a story, but I lived
through complete and total hell for six months until a doctor put me on
Valium. I found myself depending on the Valium and weaned myself off. When
I was 29, my husband died. I had my daughter who was nine to raise alone
and had to work two jobs to keep my house. So, for the next several years,
I didn't have time to have panic attacks. LOL! That is what I figure
because I really didn't have any in my 30's or most of my 40's. Honestly, I
was so exhausted, I didn't have the energy to go through one. Now, in my
50's, I started having some health issues and for the past few months I have
been having them very bad. I have been taking Xanax for the past three
years now and it does help. I was really afraid of addiction, but I figure
that is why they make these meds for people who need them and I need them.
So, if I becomes addicted, I guess I will just continue to take it. I find
the thing that helps me the most is telling myself that I am ok, it is just
the 'monster' panic. I talk myself down. I do try to do meditation and
breathing. They really help too, but in the moment when I am feeling the
'feeling', talking myself down helps. That the short version of my story.
LOL! Looking forward to hearing from you. We are all ears and it does help
to get it off your chest. :)

calmed me enough for them to release me though...at the time i wanted to

I have been pretty good thanks. I have to say, since I stopped that steroid for asthma, I have not had that horrible heart pounding. I still get a little racing, but not that pounding that made the TV remote jump. I have had some congestion, but not really bad. I go back to the cardio on the 14th. I see the rheumatologist tomorrow. The worst thing is my endoscopy and colonoscopy are this Thursday. I am starting to get a bit anxious. I have to do the prep on Wednesday and that is the worst. I just cannot wait until this is over. The last colonoscopy I had, I woke up in the middle of it. It was awfully painful and I cursed the doctor. When I was in the recovery room, I remembered what I had done. I was so embarrassed. I am praying that nothing like that happens this time. I have no idea what else I may have said that I don't remember and that makes me embarrassed too.

That's good to hear. Let me know what the rheumy has to say. I can
understand you being anxious about it. Just try not to think about it until
then and it will be over before you know it. How awful. I would make sure to
tell them that so it doesn't happen again. I bet you didn't say anything
they have not already heard before.
I finally got a call back from the ENT Saturday morning. At least he
apologized for taking so long to get back me. He ended up prescribing a
special mouthwash for me to use and added a few more blood tests for me to
take. He said if the blood work came back okay I could do a CAT scan to look
at the bone. He didn't think that was what was causing the problem but he
said he could be wrong though. I got Rich to take me over to get the blood
work done on Friday afternoon but when we go there some guy met us at the
door saying there was a tornado in the neighborhood and we would have to
wait in the bathroom until it passed. I looked at him like he was crazy
because there was no tornado. We ended up leaving an coming home. On the way
home Rich had a fit though because he was going to have to take me back on
Saturday. I hate it when he acts like that. Anyways we went back on Saturday
morning and they took 6 tubes of blood. I got the mouthwash and the
Neurontin then too. I tired the mouthwash when I got home but it left a
horrible taste in my mouth and didn't really help. I tired it again on
Sunday and the same thing happened. I called the pharmacy about it yesterday
because there was no insert with it and they said it was a combination of a
steroid, nystatin, and benedryl. No wonder it tastes so bad., They said I
could use it up to 4 times a day but I can barely stand to use it once. It
is only good for 14 days too so I don't know if I should keep using it or
not. I ended up taking a Neurontin Sunday night and that seemed to help but
I was so tired yesterday morning I slept until 10. Since the Neurontin
helped that would make me think it is a nerve problem rather than something
inflammatory. I would think the mouth wash would help if it was. Anyways I
got the blood results last night and everything was fine except for my white
blood cell count. It was low. Do you or anyone else here have any idea what
that means?
Terri

just saw this one. Anyway, welcome to the group. My name is Marge. I have
suffered from PD for many years now. It was very bad in my 20's, the worst.
My 30;s and 40's not too bad. Lately, I am having some real health issues
and it has returned with a vengeance. I missed whatever you posted. I may
get it sometime later. In any case, I am looking forward to hearing from
you. This is a great group. There is not much that most of us have not been
through with this PD believe me. It is just awful. Just remember we are here
for you. :)

> hi ! i'm not sure i know how to reply when someone replys to a post being
new here and all.. do i hit "reply" or "forward"? well any how..thanks for
taking the time to read my post and guiding me through all of this..right
now, i'm feeling a bit like my old self! When i went to the E.R. the first
night they didn't find anything even with the ear. the 2cd, the dr. said "I
think your having a panick attack" and were going to give me an injection of
something to calm me and i opted for a pill--{a 0.25 of lorazapam}.. it
calmed me enough for them to release me though...at the time i wanted to
stay there forever i was so sure i was dying! but i'm getting my wits
together now after reading all of your stories and feeling a little
better--i've also tried some of these breathing exercises... they really do
help? I feel like they do...and another thing i'm wondering is how
frequently do these attacks strike? can you have more than one in a day?
thanks 4 being there!scott

Scott - I just got your original post. I am so sorry you have had to experience this. I have experienced the very same symptoms from panic. You really do feel like you are dying. I also have this feeling like I am walking on 'slanted' surface. It is just awful. I take Xanax and it really does help my panic. Are you still taking it? Has it helped relieve your symptoms?

hi, my name is scott...40yrs. old and after going to the e.r. for 3 days in a row they said i was having panic attacks! I felt sooo sick weird and strange with all of these classic symptoms like felt i was dying...going crazy ,had a brain tumor plus the physical symptoms like THUMPING heart PROFUSE sweating,trembling...the whole nine yards! I think you get the picture! I'M really scared and dont know what to expect in the future! My doctor put me on 0.25 of xanax since last Thursday and it did seem to help but i feel like I'll never be normal again..it was such a scary experience i still feel like weak and tired and a little queasy from the whole thing! This just came from nowhere out of the blue and I was not even a particularly "anxious" person! I mean sure i have problems..but this was like life changing! so am i going to have to be on meds for the rest of my life? are these meds going to help? I also had a weird twitch in my eardrum when this first happend which may or may not be related!any answers people could help with would be great ...thanks for listening!
