I just looked at another one I have and it says no MSG added, except what is contained in the soy sauce. Hmmm! I have never reacted to this before, but there is always a first time as I well know with shellfish. Yes, this is the appointment with my husband's cardiologist.

Did the Chicken Dinner have MSG or other preservatives in it? If so that could have caused it. That is good to hear you have an appointment with a heart doctor soon. Is this appointment with your husbands cardiologist?

I had made a frozen General Tso's Chicken dinner. I wasn't in the sun at all and it was breezy and cool here today. I can't take heat at all. I could not have even been outside if it were hot. My heart rate at highest sitting was 135 irregular and bp was 162/111. I have three leaky valves. I felt like my heart was coming out of my chest. The beat was pounding like I have never felt it before. I have had racing, but never the pounding (sorry I don't know how else to describe it) like this. I was really calm for me. I knew if I got upset, it would only get worse. It was very frightening, I have to say. I think in my post I forgot to say I took a Xanax right away under my tongue. I think that is what slowed down my heart rate. I know it will when I am having anxiety. I took another half one tonight, but the rate seems to be hanging in there at 88/90. I have an appointment with a cardiologist on June 8th. Now, I can't wait to get there. I cannot get it any sooner. They told me if I have any problem to go to the ER. Thanks Lorena.

Marge, some questions,,, what did you eat, did you drink enough,,you worked a lot ,,out in the sun,,,,how tired were you....
What was your heart rate when it was at its highest ?? DO you have a heart problem ??
What was your B/P... 88 is not a high heart rate....
Now,, I have had my heart take off like that but usually at night... Heart rate up to 135...and irregular...
How did you feel when this was happening ?
As we are not DRS , we can only say what we have experienced...Marge,, if this has not happened before and if it happens again and you are alone....Please call someone... Let us know what happens----- Lorena

I can understand you being afraid to move around after that but you also
can't let the fear keep you from moving either. That is a good idea to not
keep taking it because you are right you will just keep obsessig on it if
you do. I would suggest you get busy doing something or try and go to sleep
to help take you mind off of it. If it gets worse can should probably go to
the ER though. Let us know what happens I will be thinking about you.

No, it wasn't heat at all. I would have expected it had I got over heated.
I have been in this recliner for almost seven hours now. I only get up to
go to the bathroom or get something to drink. I am afraid to do anything.
Just walking to the bathroom, I can feel my rate jump up. I have not been
taking it because I don't want to obsess any more than I have to, but I can
feel it go up. I can feel the difference in my wrist, when it starts
pounding. Thanks.

get overheated again?
I would think you would need to be in a very stressful situation for that to
happen if it was just PD causing it but what Courtney said makes sense too
though. How are you feeling now?

I know we have talked about this, but I had the worst spell today and I need
to talk about it. I was fine, absolutely fine. Bill left for Dover, DE on
Thursday and I have been by myself. I love to be by myself and look forward
to a break when he goes to NASCAR or fishing. That being said, I am not
afraid to be alone nor does it make me anxious. I love it! My day started
out going to a makeup soccer game with my grandson. Then, my daughter and I
went to Target for some things on the way home. When I got home I started
working on draining water from the fish pond and replacing it with fresh.
While doing that I washed my Jeep. I lover my Jeep and lover to 'pamper'
it. LOL! When I got done those things, I showered and went out to get a
new testing kit for the fish pond, took a little ride in my clean Jeep and
came home. I was hungry, so I made something to eat. I called a friend to
wish her a happy birthday and talked for a while. Then, I went out on the
porch that is very close to the pond. I sat in my rocker and was listening
to the water from the pond and the pool. I was very relaxed. All of a
sudden my heart started pounding so hard it felt like it was coming out of
my chest. I came in and took my bp and heart rate (digital machine). They
were both very high with an irregular heartbeat warning flashing. I tried
doing all the breathing techniques and the bearing down (the cardiologist
office told me to do that) It kept going higher and higher. Finally, I
could feel it start to slow down. I took another Xanax about 45 minutes
ago. My heart rate it still 88. I have been sitting for over three hours,
so apparently it is not going any lower.
My questions is this: From all of your experience with this PD, do you
think it was from PD? This has to be the worst I have ever had. I have
never had a problem bringing it down with talking to myself, breathing and
relaxing techniques. This time it was just awful and I was almost ready to
go to the ER. What do you guys think? Has anyone ever had it this bad?

If you have eaten them before and never had that happen that it is probably
not that then. I have heard of cases where MSG and other perservatives can
cause things like that to happen though. Glad you got an appointment with
your husbands cardiologist. I hope he will have some answers for you. Let us
know what happens.

Thanks Lorena. In my area, the ER is a very last resort. The healthcare in this area is just awful. For example: My daughter's friend's father had food poisoning. He knew it. He had eaten at a diner. He had food poisoning before. He knew he wasn't getting it under control, so went to the ER. They didn't have time to deal with him, so they put him on a gurney in the hallway for over four hours with no care. He died. When they did the toxicology report they said the type of food poisoning he had if VERY treatable and in no way should he have ever died after seeking medical treatment. I went there in sever pain and vomiting. They put me in a wheelchair for over four hours in the waiting room thrashing around and vomiting in front of everyone there. Finally, the pain began to subside and I told Bill to just take me home. I could go on for hours with horror stories from this place. Healthcare has never been good, but they built a new 'centrally located' facility and closed three hospitals. We have to travel to Philadelphia for any kind of decent healthcare. Our emergency ambulances service is not allowed to try to get us there. By law, they have to take us to the nearest facility. The majority of the population in this county now, use the emergency system for transportation and the ER for a doctor's office, so both are continuously tied up with those people. This used to be a wonderful place to live, now it is just awful. It is just hideous around here and that is not me just ranting, it is fact and very scary for us.

Thanks for that info. I just never had them both at the same time before. I try not to be superstitious, but last year I spent four days in the hospital starting Friday the 4th of July. They have these tests scheduled for the 2nd of July. I know it's silly, but that is kind of making me tense about it. If I don't take that date, I have to wait three more weeks. No can do! I have to get this over with.

He was very adamant that I do not have any liver disease. I do have four large cysts that show no signs of malignancy. When we questioned him about the gall bladder, he said that my gall bladder is of normal size and looks normal on the MRI. I asked about the functioning at 8%. He said that my gall bladder is normal, but low functioning. He said I have GERD and there is only a 30% chance that my symptoms would get any relief from removing my gall bladder. If I have my gall bladder out, I am subjecting myself to surgery and the complications of surgery for a possible 30% chance of any relief. He does not recommend surgery at all under those conditions. He made sense. He did say that something is obviously going on in my bowel or esophagus and he wants an endoscopy and colonoscopy. They are scheduled for July 2nd.

Yes, I am going to do it on the 2nd. It will stress me more to wait. I am

I am the same way about doing things on certain dates I had bad experiences
on. If it is going to cause you more stress to wait you should just do it
then though.

Thanks for that info. I just never had them both at the same time before.
I try not to be superstitious, but last year I spent four days in the
hospital starting Friday the 4th of July. They have these tests scheduled
for the 2nd of July. I know it's silly, but that is kind of making me tense
about it. If I don't take that date, I have to wait three more weeks. No
can do! I have to get this over with.

Marge, I know I really need to go. My mom just had both done a couple of

He made sense. He did say that something is obviously going on in my bowel

That's good. How long ago did you have them done?
I know but worrying about it is not going to change anything though so I
don't know why we waste our time worrying so much. I definitely agree with
that. At this point I just figure no news is good news. I hope so I just
don't want him to tell me something bad though. I think I would rather hear
nothing if that is the case.

No, they were normal. I am praying for that again. :)
You can't help but worry. This is our health and life we are talking about.
What gets me is you wait and wait, but every time you go in for an ov, there
are always office workers chatting away about personal stuff. If your
results are normal or you have nothing to worry about, why can't they call
and tell you that you need not worry or be concerned and that the doctor
will call you to discuss it with you as soon as they get a chance.
Something, anything, don't just leave you wondering and worried. Hopefully,
he will give you some insight that will help relieve your mind.

I sure that has to be an awful feeling. I have thought worse case senerio
about my mouth too but I stop myself as soon as I start to go there because
if I didn't I would really be freaking out. At this point since the doctor
has assured you that your liver is okay all you can do is go on and try not
to worry about it now. I hope you never have to feel that way again either.

Usually, I do pretty good at talking myself out of things, but this time I
was really sinking. It was the worst sinking feeling I have ever
experienced. Back in 2005, I have a tumor in my breast that was a bad one.
I thought that was an awful feeling. There is hope with breast. You have
options. But, the liver, there are no options. The only possibility is a
transplant. I know I am not a candidate for an organ because I have MS, so
there is no options for me. I hope and pray I never have to feel like that
again.

I can understand that but I don't think we are completely helpless. I know
it can be hard to not let the negative thoughts take over but we are a lot
stronger than we think we are. I think this whole disease is about control
and if we let our negative thoughts control us then they win. Fighting off
the negative thoughts is something that takes time to overcome but it can be
done.

Thank you Cindy. It is so true that out thoughts are always to negative. I
always think the very worst. Sometimes I think I do that so I can handle
whatever happens. If I think the very worst, then whatever happens will be
better and I can deal with it. I don't know. It is just an awful way to
live. We are completely over powered and helpless against this disease.
Believe me, I try desperately to talk myself out of negative and to think
positive, but negative usually wins.

I'm so sorry Marge that you are going through all of this fear and not
knowing. The "What If's" go through my mind all the time when I have felt
like you do right now. Nobody realizes what we go through with this
disorder- our thoughts are over-powering us- and they are usually negative.
I hate so much that you are going through all those negative feelings and
the pain that PD brings. We are stronger than we give ourselves credit for.
We have fought it this long- that you will get through this-and there will
be a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow for you my friend.
Peace be with you always Marge- Cindy

Thank you Cindy. I haven't been online for a few days. I am a wreck. I
see my gastro specialist at Thomas Jefferson tomorrow. I am going to demand
a confirmation about this cirrhosis and I am terrified as to what the
outcome may be. I have to know. I just can't go on like this. I feel like
I have been spiraling down into an enormous black hole of fear. If it takes
a biopsy, then I want them to do it. If I have it, I just don't know what I
will do, but I can't go on wondering. I can't live life right now for fear
of dying and that is just no way to feel.

What are you going back to HUP for? I think that is a good idea to take a
break from doctors for awhile if you don't get any answers after that.
Sounds like a great thing to do to me. That is pretty much what I've done.
It is definitely not worth letting the stress of all this kill you. I am
sure you have a lot better things to do with your life we both do. :)

I have to go to back to HUP Hemophilia on Monday, then the cardiologist on
June 8th and for that endoscopy and colonoscopy on July 2nd. If I don't get
any answers after all of that, I quit. I am putting my life in God's hands
to do His Will and that is the end of it. If a vessel is to break or a
heart attack and take my life, so be it. I can't do this anymore. It is
way too stressful and that is going to kill me.

Thanks for the reassurance about having them both the same day. I
understand the issues doctors face. I am just sick of waiting for tests and
waiting and waiting. You go to the doctor and think you are going to get
answers and they just schedule more tests and you wait again. It has been
over five years now and I still don't have answers. It just gets old.

I just had the upper and lower scope made at the same time...There was
nothing to it...You are asleep for about 20 mins and on the way home close
to an hour later....
Marge, I have family in the medical field and i have to take up for Drs a
little here...While I know we wait sometimes for results, we don't see the
inside --- results getting to them late,
excessive calling from patients which takes up a lot of time....And if
nothing is abnormal most Drs do not call back anymore, but usually post a
sign saying that...Some Drs post signs saying do not call about test results
, they will send in the mail if anything is abnormal, or if there is an
emergency situation they will call right away....And yes, sometimes
something gets overlooked...
My rule of thumb has always been if i don't hear from the Drs in a week or
so , I call and make sure everything is ok...But when i started listening I
hear them say,,we will call if something is wrong...
I don't know the answer to all this but we need to try to stay calm... Our
brains go crazy when we
are anxious,,supposing everything,,LOL That is a big trait of PD and anxiety
problems...
I think Terri says it best...we need to stay in the moment...and try not to
worry until we know something...I hate to wait too...But the excessive
worrying is not good for our systems...
I hope they find out what is going on with your colon....The antacid usage
can cause colon and bowel problems..
I hope you find time to read the article in the post i sent... About acid
reflux,usage of antacids...
I don't mean to preach but one thing I have learned as i got older is to
have patience...It saves a lot of wear on our nerves..big time...
Try to rest Marge.....stay calm,,,do some breathing thingys....
It is raining here again.....I woke up to thunder...
Hope everyone has a good day------Lorena

They have still not figured out what is causing my blood vessels to break. I thought it was the Nexium, but I had two more break while I wasn't taking it, so that blew my theory out of the water. The last tests they took were negative, so she wants to see me again. She told me the last time I was there that she was really stumped. I think she wants to know as much as I do. It is pretty scary because I don't know where they might start breaking again. Yes, I have to stop. This morning my mind just goes from my heart to my blood vessels, to... I am beginning to think from one thought to another about nothing but my health. It is ridiculous. I am driving myself crazy and making myself so afraid of dying that I am not living. On the other hand, something has to be going wrong when I react to the slightest heat like 72 degrees the way I do. And, I am not thinking about it. I can be totally engrossed in something and start to feel weak, hard to breathe and faint. I will think what the heck is wrong with me and then I look at the thermometer. OK, that's it, time to quit. In any case, I do have to stop before I drive myself crazy.
