Oh no, I am sure you didn't offend her. She has been really busy lately. Are you the moderator for this group? Her nephew was born the same day as my grandson. He was doing fairly well the last I heard.

I haven't tried the Tylenol yet. My experience with Tylenol has always been nausea and vomiting. One time, I took Tylenol Sinus for a migraine and had the dry heaves so bad I was begging Bill to call 911. I seriously thought I was dying. Whenever I had a surgery, if they gave me a pain med with 'cet' at the end, I would vomit my head off. If I took the one with aspirin, I was fine. You know like, Loricet/Loritab, Perocet/Percodan. I have been feeling too bad in my stomach lately to try anything with Tylenol in it.

That's good. We have other members here who have been greatly helped by chiros too. I have never had much luck with them though. My menstural pain had been helped in the past with a tens unit too. Did you ever try the Tylenol Arthritis?

By the way that friend of yours emailed me the other night. She thought I had my own stamping group but I don't I just belong to a few. She also said her great nephew was fighting brain cancer. I asked what the porgnosis was but she never responded. I hope I didn't offend her.

I go to a chiropractor once or twice a week. He is what keeps me walking. I would be in the chair permanently without him. When I get as bad as I was after Christmas, there isn't anything he can do until it calms down. I have a tens unit at home. It usually takes 3-5 days to calm down and then he can manipulate me.

Terri - I am always in pain. I try hard to ignore it and live a 'normal' as possible. I have good days and sometimes I will get in a 'spell' where I feel pretty good for a few days or even weeks and the something happens. All I have to do is be around someone who is sick. I don't even have to catch it and I will start to suffer. It usually takes me a couple of months to get over it. Not sure if I told you, but right on Christmas Eve, I came down with a cold. About a week after Christmas, I coughed and my back went so bad I was in a wheelchair for three days. I am a mess. Like I said, I try to ignore it. I have tried drugs. They want to give me SSRI's and I cannot take them. They make me a Zombie. I have tried seven different kinds. I tried Lyrica and it make me a nut case for sure. I just don't do well with meds. I am better off to suffer it out.

You should definitely not take anymore of that anti b! You should take all of the antibiotic prescribed but if it is making you sicker then it is best to stop it. If this does not resolve soon you should go to the ER and see if they will give you another one.

I did not know that. Are you taking anything for it? You poor thing you must be in a lot of pain. I really feel for you. I can understand that at least that is an easy fix just stop taking it.

I swore I was not going to take anymore of this antibiotic. I was feeling so good today. My daughter, grandson and I went to buy him new school shoes. My friend's son has a pizza & sub shop right around the corner from the shoe store. We went there for lunch. She told me you are not supposed to stop in the middle of the course of antibiotics because you cause antibiotic-resistant bacteria. That is the second time I heard that. I got scared and took one. Now I am suffering all over again. I have the feeling like there is hair on the back of my tongue and throat. I feel like I am going into an asthma attack and I have the niacin rush feeling. I am stopping them. I am not taking anymore. If I end up with something bad, I will have to deal with it then. I have taken 8 out of 14 and I just can't go through this again.

Unfortunately, I do have MS. I have fibromyalgia along with all of my herniated, bulging disks and spinal stenosis. I just cannot deal with feeling like this from drugs.

My husbands bosses daughter had Stevens Johnson from an antibiotic they gave her an almost died so I know how serious that can be. I am sorry to hear you have had that happend to you too. I can only take certain antibs as well. Thankfully nothing that bad happened though. You have MS?? I don't remember you telling us that.

Lorena - I have tried a few times to get off the Nexium. I can't. I have reflux so bad I can spit it out. With reflux that bad, you run the risk of Barrett's Syndrome. I have severe allergic reactions to several antibiotics. I have had Stevens-Johnson to sulfa, anything related to penicillin causes me to blister over my entire body, Avelox and Erythromycin cause hallucinations. I am a mess with antibiotics. My dad was the same way and my brother is the same way. Our bodies reject them. It is scary to be this way because there is so much junk going around today and my immune system is compromised from the MS. I am allergic to shellfish. I ate it all my life and about twenty years ago, I went into shock after eating shrimp. I am allergic to the dye they inject for tests. Last summer, I was in the hospital with Stevens-Johnson from Methylprednisolone. I am a MESS when it comes to drugs.

Thanks,
Marge

Marge, ask the Dr about getting off Nexium and onto something else...There are other meds to take..
Nexium has had some problems associated with it.. Maybe I didn't read all your posts so just going on a couple..
About the antibiotics--what kinds have they given you ? Several will tear up your stomach and cause colon problems but are not seriously harmful..Others can be...The itching makes me think some of the meds may have a penicillan or similar base... If you have problems with penicillan , always ask about an antibiotic , if it is a sister drug or similar..
I take Keflex...Have never had a problem with it...Also The Z pack at times...
I hope you get better and soon.....Please don't wait to call the Dr ,,do it today...Tell them how bad you feel and need help now....
Its awful to be sick and then have the darn meds make you feel worse...
Have you tried drinking some very hot coffee for the migraine ? Or tea ...
When I was in my 30's i used to get migraines with pain..Never took anything..not much for them back then, except to rest, dark room, aspirin..They are miserable....Warm cloth across the eyes...., hot soup...Anything to open up the blood vessels going to the brain..
Occasionally I get the migraines with the auras , never any pain anymore... So i just take a 1/4 of an Ativan and in about 15 mins it is gone....I don't think I could deal with the pain anymore..
Let us know what happens....Try to stay calm... Get something hot to drink and do a meditation thing...Quiet music, darker room..See if it helps..... Hugsssssssss---Lorena

Marge, I don't know if you have ever done this butttttttt--as sick as you
get with the meds and the painful sores in your mouth---next time this happens,
call your Dr and say I need to come by the office even if its just for 5
min,,,Then show him the sores and hopefully with the other.. he can see the end
results of the meds...Sometimes you have to show these Drs, Marge..
And have you ever asked if there is something you can take before the meds
to cut down on all this.. I don't know myself,,just asking....
You need to make them understand what is happening ,,then if they continue
to push stuff you have problems with,,find another Dr.. My Dr writes down
anything I have problems with, then never gives it to me again..
Good Luck.......Hope things get better for you and also that you had enough
of the meds to helpll

I am glad you are feeling better now. What ever caused it I am glad it is
better now. I can do the simplest things and end up in horrible pain too.
That is good you were able to eat something even if it was Vanilla Ice
Cream. I am sure one week of eating that way is not going to harm you. I
hope this week will be better for you let me know how it goes.

Thank you so much Terri for your kindness. I do feel better now. I am not
sure which one caused it. I was cooking and that means my head it tilted
down looking at the stove and counter top. Sometimes that causes pain in my
left side, chest and arm. Then there is the horrible GI upset I have had
all week. I took the Xanax, a few Maalox tablets and as soon as the nausea
went away, I ate some vanilla ice cream. For some reason, vanilla ice cream
seems to calm my stomach. Seriously, I have gone up a size in jeans this
week trying to take that antibiotic. Well, I will be back on my diet
tomorrow. I cannot afford to eat all that fat with my cholesterol. What a
mess I am!

I am sorry to hear that. Could be a lot of things. Does it hurt to touch? If
so it is probably muscular. Could be digestive too since you have been
having stomach issues. Do you have any Gas-X if so you should try some of
that. I hope the Xanax helped. How are you feeling now? I know how scary it
can be when we get pains like that. I doubt it is your heart thoughs so try
not to worry about that. You should not just sit there and think about it.
Try and get busy doing something to take you mind off it if you can. That's
terrible. How long does it take you to get to Philly? I understand. At least
you know not to take it anymore. Which one was it? I hope you feel better
soon. Let me know how you are doing when you feel up to it.

felt like I was going to throw up. I cleaned up the kitchen and just as I
was getting done, I started getting this pain under my left breast. It
hurts down my arm and my hand it tingling so much it is difficult to type.
I just took a half of a Xanax. It could be digestive, my herniated disk at
C6-C7, panic or a heart attack. I hate this. I just have to sit here and
wait. We live in a rural area and we have the worst health care in this
country. Our local hospital is just awful. I can't go to that ER ever
again unless I know for sure that I am dying and cannot make it to
Philadelphia. I will never take that antibiotic again, ever.

If the Nexium is the only thing that helps your acid that is good you should
take it then. I still have to take Malox sometimes too. Are you feeling any

in them and some people cannot tolerate one, but can tolerate the other.
There i s another Doxycycline that I could try. I cannot get off Nexium. I

happens that his wife was her cousin. I told him I was sorry to hear that,
I graduated with her and she was a very nice person, which she was. He
said, I know it was very quick for sure. I asked what happened was it
cancer. He said no, she had a blood clot. It moved and that was it. I
could feel the panic rise from my stomach up. I didn't ask any more
questions because I would never want anyone to think I am prying into
personal affairs, that is never my intention. I have very broad shoulders,
if anyone needs me, but I am not nosy. I really wonder what happened
especially because I have been having all this bruising and such. I could
feel a migraine coming all day and that did it. I have had a screaming
migraine ever since. I cannot lay down because that antibiotic has my acid
reflux coming up and every time I try to lay down, up it comes. I am not
taking any more of that antibiotic. I have decided. These doctors will
have to get over it and give me something else.

Are you the moderator for this group? Her nephew was born the same day as
my grandson. He was doing fairly well the last I heard.

I haven't tried the Tylenol yet. My experience with Tylenol has always been
nausea and vomiting. One time, I took Tylenol Sinus for a migraine and had
the dry heaves so bad I was begging Bill to call 911. I seriously thought I
was dying. Whenever I had a surgery, if they gave me a pain med with 'cet'
at the end, I would vomit my head off. If I took the one with aspirin, I
was fine. You know like, Loricet/Loritab, Perocet/Percodan. I have been
feeling too bad in my stomach lately to try anything with Tylenol in it.

You should definitely not take anymore of that anti b! You should take all
of the antibiotic prescribed but if it is making you sicker then it is best
to stop it. If this does not resolve soon you should go to the ER and see if
they will give you another one.

I did not know that. Are you taking anything for it? You poor thing you must
be in a lot of pain. I really feel for you. I can understand that at least
that is an easy fix just stop taking it.

Marge, ask the Dr about getting off Nexium and onto something else...There
are other meds to take..
Nexium has had some problems associated with it.. Maybe I didn't read all
your posts so just going on a couple..
About the antibiotics--what kinds have they given you ? Several will tear
up your stomach and cause colon problems but are not seriously
harmful..Others can be...The itching makes me think some of the meds may
have a penicillan or similar base... If you have problems with penicillan ,
always ask about an antibiotic , if it is a sister drug or similar..
I take Keflex...Have never had a problem with it...Also The Z pack at
times...
I hope you get better and soon.....Please don't wait to call the Dr ,,do it
today...Tell them how bad you feel and need help now....
Its awful to be sick and then have the darn meds make you feel worse...
Have you tried drinking some very hot coffee for the migraine ? Or tea ...
When I was in my 30's i used to get migraines with pain..Never took
anything..not much for them back then, except to rest, dark room,
aspirin..They are miserable....Warm cloth across the eyes...., hot
soup...Anything to open up the blood vessels going to the brain..
Occasionally I get the migraines with the auras , never any pain anymore...
So i just take a 1/4 of an Ativan and in about 15 mins it is gone....I don't
think I could deal with the pain anymore..
Let us know what happens....Try to stay calm... Get something hot to drink
and do a meditation thing...Quiet music, darker room..See if it helps.....

Lorena - Thanks. My doctor just thinks that I am depressed and a 'nut case' I guess because he just keeps telling me to take it anyway. I am trying to find another doctor. The area where I live is the worst for medical care. You have to go to Philadelphia, which is about 50 miles away. I don't mind that except in the case of a serious emergency like you stop breathing or are unconscious, 911 will take you to the nearest hospital (which is just a horrible hospital) and if you don't have a doctor that knows anything about you, that could be a problem. I have been in this 'catch 22' for a couple of years now.

Marge, I don't know if you have ever done this butttttttt--as sick as you get with the meds and the painful sores in your mouth---next time this happens, call your Dr and say I need to come by the office even if its just for 5 min,,,Then show him the sores and hopefully with the other.. he can see the end results of the meds...Sometimes you have to show these Drs, Marge..
And have you ever asked if there is something you can take before the meds to cut down on all this.. I don't know myself,,just asking....
You need to make them understand what is happening ,,then if they continue to push stuff you have problems with,,find another Dr.. My Dr writes down anything I have problems with, then never gives it to me again..
Good Luck.......Hope things get better for you and also that you had enough of the meds to helpll

so bad I was in a wheelchair for three days. I am a mess. Like I said, I
try to ignore it. I have tried drugs. They want to give me SSRI's and I
cannot take them. They make me a Zombie. I have tried seven different
kinds. I tried Lyrica and it make me a nut case for sure. I just don't do
well with meds. I am better off to suffer it out.

You should definitely not take anymore of that anti b!

Terri

I swore I was not going to take anymore of this antibiotic. I was feeling
so good today. My daughter, grandson and I went to buy him new school
shoes. My friend's son has a pizza & sub shop right around the corner from
the shoe store. We went there for lunch. She told me you are not supposed
to stop in the middle of the course of antibiotics because you cause
antibiotic-resistant bacteria. That is the second time I heard that. I got
scared and took one. Now I am suffering all over again. I have the feeling
like there is hair on the back of my tongue and throat. I feel like I am
going into an asthma attack and I have the niacin rush feeling. I am
stopping them. I am not taking anymore. If I end up with something bad, I
will have to deal with it then. I have taken 8 out of 14 and I just can't
go through this again.

Unfortunately, I do have MS. I have fibromyalgia along with all of my
herniated, bulging disks and spinal stenosis. I just cannot deal with
feeling like this from drugs.

My husbands bosses daughter had Stevens Johnson from an antibiotic they gave
her an almost died so I know how serious that can be. I am sorry to hear you
have had that happend to you too. I can only take certain antibs as well.
Thankfully nothing that bad happened though. You have MS?? I don't remember
you telling us that.

Lorena - I have tried a few times to get off the Nexium. I can't. I have
reflux so bad I can spit it out. With reflux that bad, you run the risk of
Barrett's Syndrome. I have severe allergic reactions to several
antibiotics. I have had Stevens-Johnson to sulfa, anything related to
penicillin causes me to blister over my entire body, Avelox and Erythromycin
cause hallucinations. I am a mess with antibiotics. My dad was the same
way and my brother is the same way. Our bodies reject them. It is scary to
be this way because there is so much junk going around today and my immune
system is compromised from the MS. I am allergic to shellfish. I ate it
all my life and about twenty years ago, I went into shock after eating
shrimp. I am allergic to the dye they inject for tests. Last summer, I was
in the hospital with Stevens-Johnson from Methylprednisolone. I am a MESS
when it comes to drugs.

Thanks,
Marge

Hey y'all! I'm Becca and i'm new to the group.

I've had panic attacks for the last 16 years. And i also deal with agoraphobia and social anxiety, though seemingly less.

The last 2 months have been so much worse than ever before! At the beginning of February my elderly mother had 2 heart attacks within 9 days of each other. Because i live at home with my parents, i've ended up being her primary care giver since then.

I was doing relatively okay with it until about a month ago when my sister had a panic attack and went to the ER. She's since been checked out, and is completely fine, but the whole thing did not help me with my own anxiety stuff. I started imaging that all kinds of things were wrong with me!

Then to top it all off two weeks ago really bad PMS hit me and i finally went over the edge. I suffered through for a week before i broke down and went to the doctor. They did an EKG and some blood work and said i am FINE (other than my cholesterol is high... yes, this was ever SO helpful to hear right NOW!). I was prescribed Ativan, and then Lexapro. The Ativan was okay, but i took one dose (10 mg) of Lexapro and will never take it again. The side effects were so awful! For three days i could not stop shaking, my heart was racing, and it felt like it was burning under my skin.

At this point i don't know what to do. My hormones have calmed down so it's not AS bad as it was, but i'm still pretty miserable with anxiety. I've gotten to where i dread going to bed at night, because i have the hardest time staying asleep. I wake up several times in the night with a panic attack. It's exhausting!

Anyways. That's where i am right now. I guess i thought this group might be a good place to connect with some people who actually GET what i'm going through!! It helps to know i'm not alone. :O)

Hello to you, Becca!
This group is the perfect one for you! I'm so honoured to be writing to you! I'm 24 years of age and suffer from seizures, nervousness and a sleep problem, but the great thing is I'm on meds for all these and they work beautifully! I am so very sorry you are going through this, maybe you might want to ask your doc whether he or she can prescribe you a sleeping pill? I am visually impaired by the way. It's so wonderful to have you here! I will keep you in my prayers.
Love, Maheen.

Welcome to the group,

I am sorry to hear what happened with your mom and sister. I can understand
those things making you panicky. I am also sorry to hear what happened when
you took the Lexapro. There are a lot of us here myself included who cannot
tolerate those kinds of meds either. If I were you I would try taking the
Ativan at night and see if that helps you sleep if not you should ask your
doctor about trying something else. This is a great place to come to talk to
others that are going this too. You are definitely not alone. Feel free to
talk about what you are going through here anytime.

Welcome Becca! My name is Marge. I am so sorry to hear about your mother and sister. Something like that can certainly take a toll on you. Everyone here is very supportive and nice. I had a horrible time with panic in my 20's. Back then, they didn't even have a name for it. I seemed to do pretty well with it in my 30's and 40's. Now in my 50's, I am having a terrible time with it again. I know all too well how horrible panic can be. I have tried several SSRI's and I cannot take any of them. I take Xanax. So far, that has worked best for me. It has a bad rap as an addictive drug. At this point, I just can't worry about that. I take one right before bed and it is a tremendous help for sleeping. Ativan is from the same 'family' of drugs so perhaps one right before bed might help you too. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Marge

Hi everyone, my name is Cathe and I am very good friends with Marge.  I have had panic attacks for nearly 30 years.  I have been on just about every medication for them in all these years with not much help until I went on Lexapro about 4 yrs ago.

My husband and I are older parents of two, our daughter is 31, married and is a social worker.
Our son is 13 yrs old.  We are homeschool parents as he has dyslexia (like his father) and has Asperger's Syndrome.  We have one granddaughter who is 18 mos old and our pure joy.
Last year was very rough for our family.  We lost our step-mom in March and then 10 weeks later our dad passed away on May 10th.  As I had to fly both times my panic was quite high.
I will go for periods where I don't have any but as we know the panic attacks can and do come out of the blue.

I do alot of charity work for children by sending happy and cheer mail to sick kids in honor of my 6 yr old great-nephew who is battling Astrocytoma (brain cancer).  He was diagnosed at age 2 and has been on chemo several times in the last 4 years.  He just turned 6 on March 3rd and really is an inspiration to the whole family.  I formed my own group to send happy mail in 07' and we've sent mail to over 160 kids.  I also make my own cards and do alot of scrapbooking which all keeps me grounded.

On Thursday it will be two weeks since we had to put down our cocker spaniel of ten years so the last couple weeks have been an emotional rollercoaster.  Within 48 hours of her being diagnosed with cancer and diabetes we had to put her down and it was the most difficult thing we've ever had to do.

Well this is alittle about me and I look forward to being a part of the group.
Hugs,
Cathe

Aw, Cathe, you sure are going through a lot and I can't tell you how much I feel for you. I want you to know that you found the right place and I along with all the other members here will be more than happy to support you. We had to put our lab down in 2006 and believe me it was extremely rough. We miss him still. Hopefully soon we will get another doggy.
God bless and welcome! Sincerely, Maheen.

Welcome Cathe, I am glad to see you here. I am sorry to hear you suffer with
PD too. I have been dealing with it on and off since I was 4 years old. Glad
to hear the Lexapro is helping you.

I homeschool my daughter as well and have been since she was 4. She will be
11 on Thursday. It can be challenging some days but worth it in the long
run. I am sorry that you lost 2 family members that close together. How
awful. I can only imagine how hard it must have been for you to fly at that
time too.
I am the same way. I was PD free for 10 yrs then started having other health
probelms and the PD came back again.

What a wonderful thing to do for sick children. I had my homeschooling group
make cards for sick kids last year and we sent them to the local childrens
hospital. I am sorry to hear about your great-nephew. I hope the chemo is
helping. I would love to hear more about your group that sends mail to sick
kids. I have a lot of cards here that I would be willing to donate.

I am also so sorry about the loss of your dog. I know how hard that decision
can be. We had to make it with our last 2 dogs as well. As hard as it was to
make that decision we knew it was for the best and they would not be
suffering anymore. I hope you can find some comfort knowing that too.

I look forward to you being a part of our group too.
